Did you know that one in 10 people are more susceptible to mosquito bites? According to Elizabeth Heubecks’s article on WebMD, female mosquitoes, which use human blood to develop fertile eggs, may show bias over whom they choose to bite.
It’s difficult for researchers to determine what key factors qualify someone as a ‘mosquito magnet’. Technical advisor to the American Mosquito Control Association, Joe Conlon admits, “There’s a tremendous amount of research being conducted on what compounds and odors people exude that might be attractive to mosquitoes”.
Scientists are looking into at least 400 different compounds that could be the key. Body chemistry and genetics could also account for 85% of mosquito vulnerability.
Whether you’re more prone to mosquitoes or not, it’s better to ensure that all members of your friends and family are protected this summer! Make sure that your outdoor residential misting system is in proper working order. Be sure to contact us at Mosquito Max or call us at 877-523-2525 if you need your system fixed or have any additional questions.
As the days grow hotter and more humid, outdoor activities will expose you to a greater risk of being bitten by mosquitoes than you’d be exposed to in the cool seasons. Have you considered how you’ll protect yourself?
Mosquito season begins in April and lasts through winter, with the most active months becoming more and more intense until the first freeze. One of the best defenses against these backyard predators during the intense, active months is a mosquito misting system. It’s a worry-free and effective way to combat mosquitoes and the diseases they transmit through biting people and household pets.
Outdoor mosquito misting systems work by routinely dispensing a specific amount of plant-based insecticide into designated areas outside your home and lawn at the times you designate. Based on your preferences, your residential misting system can mist to protect your home and family on a schedule, like clock-work. You can also mist when you need to.
Mosquito Max can help you set up your personal mosquito misting system. Our online store is a good place to begin. We have a large inventory of nozzles, fittings, tubing, insecticides, and larvacides. Not to mention, we will install your home mosquito misting system or help you with self-installation.
Candles, bug spray and special plants aren’t always the best, efficient or cost effective ways to save your lawn party, 4th of July barbecue or pool party from mosquitoes. Protect your family and guests weeks in advance with regular misting.

Mosquito max has unmatched experience in trouble shooting residential and commercial mosquito misting system problems. Many companies won’t repair a misting system that they didn’t install, but we will. And in most cases, we’ll repair the existing system and warranty the work we’ve done from leaks to electronic failures to malfunctioning pumps and motors.
A leaky system will reduce the effectiveness of repelling existing mosquitoes. Some systems will shut down automatically when a leak is recognized. No matter the manufacturer, Mosquito Max will repair leaks to any mosquito misting system.
From setting the timer on your insect misting system to adjusting the frequency of the spray, Mosquito Max will repair any electronic failures to your mosquito misting system. We complete electrical repairs on any residential, commercial or industrial mosquito misting system, and in many cases we warranty our work. Recognizing an electrical failure with a mosquito misting system can be a challenge. Contact us at 1-877-523-2525 for additional information on identifying problems and repairing your mosquito misting system.
A failing motor or pump will result in little to no mist from your mosquito misting system. Be sure your pump tubing is fully inserted and tightened, and that your suction filter is not clogged.
Please contact us if you suspect the pump or motor on your residential, commercial or industrial mosquito misting system is faulty. We’ll inspect and repair outdoor insect misting systems from any manufacturer.
We understand that things happen and know that our clients appreciate quick, reliable, competent service personnel with the experience to understand many different misting systems, no matter the manufacturer.

It seems right out of the scenes of a movie: Cases of Dengue Fever Strike U.S. Gulf Coast Region. But it’s not.
The Houston Chronicle reports that tropical disease specialists are currently on watch for the viral disease they believe potentially poses a threat to the Gulf from Corpus Christi to South Florida.
According to the Miami Herald, after being virtually absent for 75-years, cases of Dengue Fever were reported in South Florida in the fall of 2009. And by the end of mosquito season in mid-October, 27 cases of the disease were reported in Key West.
This year, 16 new cases of Dengue Fever have been confirmed since April. With more than a month left of mosquito season, protection is the best defense. This is especially true for southern areas of the U.S. that tend to have long warm seasons.
Dengue Fever is a vector-borne disease transmitted by mosquitoes. It’s not spread from person-to-person, and annually about 100 million cases of the disease are reported worldwide. So far, in the case of the infected Florida residents, none of them had traveled outside of the U.S. Chief of the Dengue branch of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told the Miami Herald that the center is determining if the cases are an isolated occurrence or if the continental U.S. is again facing a dengue endemic.
While specialists work to determine the outcome of the dengue occurrences in the Gulf Coast regions, Mosquito Max recommends protecting yourself and your home. Diligently misting at dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active is one step toward protection. Our outdoor residential misting systems are equipped with automatic timers that can be set in advance to protect your home and family even while you’re away.
For more information on how your residential mosquito misting system can protect you, or to learn how to set the automatic timer on your system, contact us at (281) 579-2525 or check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
While it seems like mosquito season can last all year, prime mosquito season is April through September. More than anything, mosquitoes are annoying but they can also carry a variety of diseases that are harmful to people and animals.
The American Mosquito Control Association suggests using the “3 D’s” to help protect yourself and loved ones during peak mosquito season: Drain. Defend. Dress.
